Pu’unani Hawaiian Homestead Association and Pa’upena CDC collaborate on a Food Forest Tour

WAIKAPŪ — Pu‘unani and other Hawaiian Homes beneficiaries are invited to tour Kaiea Medeiros’ food forest this Sunday morning 3/12/23. His 1/4-acre food forest flourishes with edibles of aloe, avocado, banana, basil, kalo, mamaki, papaya, ’ulu and other natives of ‘a‘ali‘i and ‘ōhi‘al ehua.

The free 11am farm tour is open to all, especially ‘ōpio and keiki. Stage 10:45 a.m. inside the gate on the Haleakalā side of Honoapi‘ilani Highway, across from the entrance to the Kahili and King Kamehameha golf courses.

A Kamehameha Schools Maui 2008 graduate, Kaiea earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of La Verne in Southern California. He holds an MBA in organizational management and is a proponent of regenerative-soil farming.

The Pu‘unani Hawaiian Homestead Association will hold its bi-monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on the second Monday.
